This year’s Black History Month stamps celebrate early hip-hop in Canada. Today, Canada Post unveiled a new Black History Month stamp set celebrating the vibrant roots of hip-hop in Canada. The stamps pay tribute to three of the country’s most dynamic hip-hop trailblazers – Maestro Fresh Wes, Michie Mee and Muzion. There was no shortage of Indigenous representation at this year's Juno Awards; there were five wins from over 19 nominations for Indigenous artists at the awards. The 54th Juno Awards were held in Vancouver's Rogers Arena this past weekend. Leading the charge was Snotty Nose Rez Kids, leaving with Rap Album/EP of the Year for Red Future. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has reversed the decision to remove the reggae, gospel, and children’s categories. At last month’s annual Canadian blues music gala held in Toronto, the Blackburn Brothers were up for a whopping nine Maple Blues Awards and were one of the night’s headlining performers.
